Snow Removal

The Street Division of Raymore Public Works is responsible for the snow removal of approximately 350 lane miles of city streets. First priority is given to roadways designated as emergency snow routes or primary thoroughfares. Secondary and residential streets are cleared next, in order of priority.

2026 Snow Plow Naming Contest

Residents have seen members of our team in trucks with names like Plow Force One, Darth Blader, Taylor Drift and Pillsbury Plowboy rolling through neighborhoods before, during and after winter weather that impacted Raymore. Send us your best snow plow names for the upcoming winter season. We'll choose up to 12 names from your submissions and remember to keep it family-friendly! Submit your name ideas by Oct. 26!

Snow Desk

The Snow Desk is open during snow removal operations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at (816) 892-3090. If there is a slick spot or patch of roadway that needs attention, call the Snow Desk and crews will address it as safely as possible.

How Snow Removal Works

The City’s goal is to clear all priority routes within 24 hours after plowing begins. Snow plowing commences as soon as snow depth reaches more than one inch. Salt brine is applied to roadways before a snow event to aid in clearing streets. The City does not plow or salt private driveways or sidewalks.

To minimize snow deposited in your driveway by plows, shovel a 15-foot path in advance of your driveway (right side if facing the house) and always shovel snow away from the cleared street area.

Resident Tips

  • Use proper snow or all-weather tires to avoid getting stuck.
  • Park vehicles off the street whenever possible.
  • Clear a 15-foot path at the curb to minimize snow windrows in driveways.
  • Stay back at least 100 feet from plow trucks.
  • Teach children to stay behind sidewalks when plows are active.
  • Keep trash/recycling bins behind the curb to avoid damage.
