The City of Raymore's Communications Department is responsible for providing residents with timely, accurate and complete information about what is happening in the City.

This department provides public information through press releases, email updates, website news updates, social media and digital and printed publications including The Review, a community news magazine mailed to every Raymore address three times a year (January, May and September).

Learn how your City government operates

The mission of the Communications Department is to facilitate communication with the public, the media and employees regarding City services and to assist City departments in developing and sharing information about City programs, services and activities.

The Communications Department serves as the central point of contact for City communications and information. This department is responsible for:

  • Public information

  • Emergency communications

  • Supporting the Mayor, Council, City officials and City departments in communications including public messaging, speeches and talking points

  • Regional media relations

  • City communications including press releases, e-newsletters, website, social media channels, printed and digital publications

  • City branding

  • Photography, videography and graphic design

  • Design of City-branded materials: ads, flyers, postcards, permanent signage, mailers, The Review/Parks & Rec Program Guide, annual budget design, graphics for web/social media

  • Event promotion for all City-sponsored events

  • Internal communications: providing high quality support and customer service internally to all departments and employees

  • Scheduling and coordination of the Civic Leadership Academy, City blood drives, electronics recycling events and the plastic bag recycling challenge program

  • Responsible for thank you/tax letters for Raymore Community Foundation donors

  • Communications Director serves as staff support for the Raymore Arts Commission, coordinating commission meetings, public art programs and other community arts events

  • Communications Director represents the KC region in a Missouri Municipal League (MML) public information officer advisory group

Members of the Communications Department coordinate the following events and programs:

Community Blood Drives, in Partnership with the Community Blood Center every April, July and November.

Electronics Recycling Event, annually the first Saturday of June. Due to high demand, a second event has been added in November, generally on the first Saturday.

Civic Leadership Academy (held every fall September-October)
