Raymore police look forward to Shop with a Cop all year long! This program allows area children in need of a little extra help for the holidays to go shopping for gifts for themselves and loved ones with Raymore police officers.

Raymore police are growing out their Santa beards in November to raise money for the annual Shop with a Cop event. Each participating Raymore Police Officer donates between $25 and $200 toward the cause–depending on how long they want to forego shaving. While it's really all about the kids, our officers DO enjoy a little friendly competition in seeing who can raise the most money in his or her name.

Every December, between 50 and 60 area children are paired with officers and are given a $100 spending allowance at the Raymore Walmart, with the only requirement being that they must pick out at least one gift for themselves. The children are treated to a meal prior to shopping and volunteers wrap gifts once they return from their shopping trip. A group of volunteers work all year long to hand make hats and scarves for each participating child. Each child's family is also given a small gift card to Price Chopper for groceries.

This program would not be possible without the support of our officers and community supporters like you! Are you ready to help us? Donations are tax-deductible through the Raymore Community Foundation, the City's 501(c)3 organization.

HISTORY OF SHOP WITH A COP

Chief Jim Wilson brought the Shop with a Cop program to Raymore in 2016, and that year Raymore police took 10 area children shopping. The program has grown each year, with our officers taking between 50 and 60 children shopping each year, thanks to the generosity of local businesses and community members!
