RAYMORE, MO – The Raymore Police Department urges residents to stay aware of phone scams. Scammers often impersonate members of law enforcement, employees from your bank, a postal or delivery service or other authority figures.

Do not answer calls from numbers you don’t recognize.

Law enforcement agencies will NEVER take money over the phone. They will NEVER demand payment in gift cards or Bitcoin.

Scammers use urgency to pressure you and they have had a lot of practice in sounding polished and believable.

The moment a message feels off, hang up and verify with the official number.

Never share personal information over the phone.
