RAYMORE, MO – Mayor Kris Turnbow presented a proclamation at the April 13, 2026, City Council meeting to Dispatch Communications Supervisor Courtney Harrison and Dispatch Communications Officer Florencio Reyes, honoring all nine staff members of the Raymore Police Department Communications Center for National Public Safety  Telecommunicators Week.

They’re often the very first voice someone hears in an emergency. Our Raymore Police Department’s 9-1-1 dispatchers—also known as communications officers—serve as the critical link between the public and emergency services. They answer emergency calls around the clock, give lifesaving instructions before help arrives and  quickly share essential information with police officers, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and firefighters in the field. 

The Raymore communications center dispatches for the Raymore Police Department, Raymore Animal Control, the Peculiar Police Department, the South Metropolitan Fire Protection District and the West Peculiar Fire District. Raymore Communications Officers answered 10,544 emergency calls in 2025. 

In stressful, high-pressure moments, dispatchers are the calm connection between people in danger and the help on the way. They think fast, stay composed and make sure emergency responders have the information they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. 

Raymore communications officers complete 18 weeks of in-house, hands-on training and approximately three weeks of outside training, receiving certifications for Basic Telecommunicator, Cass County Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification, Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement Systems Certification through the Missouri State Highway Patrol, CPR Certification, FEMA Incident Command and Incident Management Certification, Crisis Intervention Training for Telecommunicators and Active Shooter Training for Public Safety Emergency Communications.
