Mayor Kris Turnbow nominated Berry and Fizer for the award in recognition of their continued contributions to the community:

The City of Raymore is pleased to honor Raymore residents Robert Berry and Kelly Fizer as its 2025 West Gate Civic Leadership Award recipients.

This husband and wife have a combined 22 years of volunteer civic service, with Ms. Fizer serving on the Planning & Zoning Commission since 2013, and Mr. Berry serving on the Raymore Arts Commission since its creation in 2015.

Ms. Fizer has served several years as Vice-Chair of Planning & Zoning. She has been a long-time supporter of the important role of the commission in the development process and supporting the growth of the city. She has also been an advocate of continuing education in the planning sector and has attended several local and national planning conferences with staff. Ms. Fizer has demonstrated a strong understanding of the roles that our various boards and commissions play in the development and growth process and often supports many of the City’s programs and community events.

Mr. Berry served for three years as Vice-Chair and recently completed three years as Chair of the Raymore Arts Commission, leading the commission in establishing community arts programs and signature events to offer opportunities for residents of all ages to engage in the arts in Raymore. His willingness to dedicate his time, energy and ideas to expanding the reach of the commission in the community is inspiring. His work has directly impacted the success of the organization over the last decade and his commitment to showing up and bringing art into the community is truly an example for us all.

We’re fortunate to have such strong supporters of the City in Kelly and Bob. Their committed leadership truly contributes to making Raymore a wonderful place to call home.

I am honored to recognize Mr. Berry and Ms. Fizer for their service to Raymore.
