Former Council member Hubach passes away

Post Date:02/08/2019 3:36 PM

With great sadness and a heavy heart City Manager Jim Feuerborn today announced that former Council Member Charlene Hubach passed away on Friday surrounded by family and friends.

Hubach was a fervent advocate for Raymore and dedicated her life to its growth and success.

“Raymore lost one the pillars of our community,” Mayor Kris Turnbow said. “Her wit and willingness to challenge us to be a better community every day was refreshing with every Council meeting we shared.”

Hubach grew up in Raymore and served as the community’s Postmaster for the U.S. Post Office. Her civic involvement began early as one of the first members of the Raymore Parks & Recreation Board when the City purchased land for Memorial Park, one of its first parks.

Hubach stayed active throughout her life speaking out on a number of issues in the community and later became a member and Chairwoman of the Planning & Zoning Commission before joining the City Council.

She stepped down from her Ward 4 seat in April 2017, but remained active putting her final mark on the city as a member of the 2017 Charter Review Commission and served as volunteer in a number of local civic organizations and not-for-profits.
