HHW mobile collection coming to Belton May 12

Residents may safely dispose of household hazardous waste

The City of Belton, along with the City of Raymore, in coordination with the MARC Solid Household Waste Management District's Regional Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)HHW Tips Collection Program, will host a mobile collection event on Saturday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to noon at Yeokum Center of Innovation, 613 Mill St., Belton.

Residents of communities participating in the Regional HHW Program can safely dispose of their household hazardous waste at this collection event at no charge with an ID with proof of residency. There is a 300-car limit for this event.

Materials accepted include items that cannot be thrown out with the regular trash because of their hazardous qualities:

  • automotive fluids
  • batteries
  • paint and paint-related products
  • lawn and garden chemicals
  • house cleaners
  • glues
  • flourescent light bulbs (compact and tube)

Electronic waste and business waste will NOT be accepted, including waste from home-based businesses, nonprofits, churches and rental property owners.

Area participating communities include: Raymore, Belton, Cleveland, Garden City, Greenwood, Harrisonville and Lake Winnebago. To find out if you live in a participating community, call 816-701-8313 or visit

Residents of participating communities may also drop off HHW for free at two permanent facilities: 4707 Deramus St, Kansas City, Mo., and 2101 SE Hamblen Road, Lee's Summit.
