The Raymore Missouri Police Department has an opening for a full-time Communications (9-1-1 Dispatch) Supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a 24-hour, 365-day, 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point, that provides dispatch services to the Raymore Police Department, Peculiar Police Department, the South Metro Fire Protection District and the West Peculiar Fire Protection District.
This position supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, and discipline; completes employee performance appraisals. Supervises the day to day operations of the City’s emergency 911 communication center; plans and coordinates center operations; monitors activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; consults with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise. Consults with police and fire officials and others to review activities, resolve problems, provide recommendations, or receive/give advice/direction; ensures departmental compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
Coordinates departmental training activities; develops and prepares training sessions and materials; determines current and future training needs; prepares and presents training programs utilizing a variety of media, resources, and equipment; ensures that all employees receive required continuing education.
Receives calls on the City’s emergency 911 system, including emergency calls, non-emergency calls, TDD calls, and language lines, as needed.
Performs various administrative activities such as entering, updating, and retrieving information from databases; enters law enforcement information into databases; reviews information entered into systems for accuracy and completeness; maintains and reviews communication logs; queries data bases upon request; researches warrant information, driver’s licenses and tags; submits information to appropriate staff; and performs system back ups and reboots servers as needed.
