GENERAL PURPOSE: To provide adult leadership and supervision to concessions operations ensuring compliance to health regulations and the most highly customer friendly and professional service to the public.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Comply with personnel policies for all concessions staff.  Supervise concessions staff – recruit, select, place, schedule, evaluate, and release.

  2. Plan, conduct, and evaluate pre-season and on-the-job training of concession staff and verify all staff have current Food Handlers permits and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.

  3. Assist in the development of a staff manual, including health and safety policies, emergency procedures, and department food handling standards.

  4. Coordinate the concession service:

    1. Coordinates daily, weekly, and facility work schedules.

    2. Plan and conduct staff meetings.

    3. Prepare daily deposits.

    4. Enter inventory in software support system for each facility.

    5. Assist the Athletic Coordinator in the procurement of commodities.

    6. Assist the Athletic Coordinator in achieving the concessions budget goals.

  5. Direct the preparation of the stand for food service activities for the day.  

  6. Ensure that food is stored properly and food preparation areas are cleaned to meet or exceed health regulation standards.

  7. Direct and assist in the preparation of foods; Design product displays and supplies in a manner that encourages purchases.

  8. Provide a high level of customer service to park patrons.

  9. Take concessions orders; prepare orders, and serve food in accordance with established health department regulations.

  10. Operate various concession equipment, appliances, and utensils; ensure that equipment , appliances and utensils are in proper working order.

  11. May be required to open and close restrooms seasonally.

  12. Operate the cash register; accept payments and make accurate change.

  13. Communicate with the Athletic Coordinator regarding concerns and issues with facilities, equipment, program participants, or spectators.

  14. Communicate department information to customers and relate participant feedback to the Athletic Coordinator.

  15. Perform other duties as assigned.


DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduation from High School or GED equivalent with prefered specialized coursework in supervision, communications and general office practices.

  2. State Food Handler’s License.

  3. Ability to select, train, and supervise teenaged staff.

  4. Ability to evaluate the concession service and make changes as necessary.

  5. Ability to adjust to changing situations.

  6. Ability to make judgments related to personnel, health, safety, and crises situations.

  7. General knowledge of the Department’s programs and services.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Position is subject to working weekend and evening hours.  Background check and drug screening required.


TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: hot dog roller grill, steam table, crock pot, microwave, popcorn machine, ice machine, computer, mops, brooms, other custodial equipment, and miscellaneous hand tools.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Must be able to stand for long periods of time; Communicate verbally with customers in a noisy environment; Accept direction and follow established procedures; Observe and identify safety hazards, operational concerns, and spectator/player behavior; pushed, pulls, or carries up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near areas in which program participants are physically active and practices or games with balls or equipment in motion are under way.  The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, burns from appliances and steam.


The noise level in the work environment is usually relatively loud.
