RAYMORE, MO - Construction on 155th Street between Kentucky Road and North Madison Street is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Oct. 25, with intermittent road closures between Kentucky Road and North Madison Street. Crews have placed message boards and detour route signs at the affected areas.

This project is the first of three phases in the 155th Street Road Improvements and Bridge Reconstruction Project.

In 2015, the City of Kansas City, Mo., which owns half of the bridge and roadway, closed the two-lane bridge just east of Madison along 155th Street. Although Kansas City had no plans to reopen it, the Raymore officials began negotiating with Kansas City to repair the bridge and take it over so Raymore could conduct regular maintenance on the roadway used by many on the northeast side of the City.

Kansas City agreed to pay for half of the $1.4 million project that will expand and repair the bridge and surrounding roadway. Bridge reconstruction is expected to begin before the end of this year and continue through winter.
