Raymore Police host Coffee with a Cop for area residents
RAYMORE, MO - Members of the Raymore community joined police officers and staff for coffee, donuts and good discussion.
On Thursday, July 27, the Raymore Police Department hosted its first Coffee with a Cop event at Centerview.
Residents of all ages met with Raymore officers to ask questions and talk one-on-one in a casual atmosphere.
“It was refreshing for our officers to have the opportunity to interact with residents in an environment where everyone was relaxed and enjoying themselves,” Chief Jan Zimmerman said. “So often people only come into contact with police in crisis and high-stress situations.”
Chief Zimmerman added that communication is invaluable in building relationships between Raymore’s residents and the officers who serve them, and inviting residents to enjoy a cup of coffee with a cop is a perfect opportunity to strengthen those relationships through open, casual conversation.
“We want to have great relationships with our citizens. After all, we’re here to serve them,” Zimmerman said.
"My children and I thoroughly enjoyed the positive interaction with the officers at the event," area resident Susan Nelson said. "We look forward to more events like this in the future."
Big Daddy’s Donuts of Raymore donated 100 donuts for the event.
